Increasing Participation - Improving Performance

The Sports Council for Wales is responsible for the development of sport in Wales. To do this the Council have identified the following key areas;

    School and Community Sport

Young people first forms the basis of all Sports Council for Wales schemes and initiatives.

Club Development

By encouraging local clubs to develop junior sections, the Sports Council for Wales aims to provide the right environment and coaching for talented juniors.

    Centres of Local Development

 

Centres of local development bring talented young people and skilled coaches together to help them achieve their ambitions within their chosen sport.

    Centres of Regional Development

    Centres of regional development bring talented young people and skilled coaches together to help them achieve their ambitions within their chosen sport.

    Welsh Squads

    Through the funding of Governing Bodies of Sport, the Sports Council of Wales aims to develop Welsh squads that are able to compete effectively on the world stage.

    Elite Performers

    The Sports Council for Wales is committed to helping Wales’ best sports people while they develop their potential.
